At MegaKC, being 100% employee-owned means every success is shared. Our annual ESOP meeting is more than a company gathering—it’s an opportunity to reflect on the past year, celebrate our accomplishments, and recognize the employee-owners who continue to move our company forward.
We were honored to welcome Joel Goldberg, broadcaster for the Kansas City Royals, as our keynote speaker. Drawing on his experiences in professional sports and business, Joel shared valuable insights on the importance of building trust, developing strong relationships, and creating meaningful connections—principles that resonate deeply with our employee-owned culture.
We also recognized outstanding achievements across the company. Congratulations to Mike Newman and the WWTP 20 Sludge Thickening and Building Repair project team for earning Project of the Year for their work with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County.
This year’s meeting also marked the beginning of a new MegaKC tradition.
In honor of Brian Gordon’s retirement, we introduced the Act Like an Owner Award. The award recognizes employee-owners who embody the accountability, initiative, leadership, and commitment that define what it means to truly act like an owner. The award is a fitting tribute to Brian, whose leadership helped cultivate the employee-owned culture that continues to shape MegaKC today.
The meeting also included one final memorable moment with Brian as he performed his last ceremonial coin flip as CEO—a tradition that has become a meaningful part of our annual gathering and a symbolic passing of the torch.
As MegaKC continues to grow, our greatest strength remains our people.
Every project we complete, every client relationship we build, and every milestone we achieve is made possible by the dedication of our employee-owners. Their commitment to safety, quality, service, and one another is what makes MegaKC more than just a construction company—it’s what makes us an employee-owned team invested in each other’s success.
Thank you to every MegaKC employee-owner for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to building a stronger future together. We look forward to another year of growing, serving our communities, and continuing to live out what it truly means to act like an owner.
