For former MegaKC scholarship recipient Harrison Reichman, an interest in construction started with a desire to work outside, see tangible progress every day, and follow in the footsteps of people he looked up to in the industry. While a student at the University of Central Missouri, Reichman learned of the MegaKC Scholarship during a presentation in one of his seminar classes. What started as a scholarship opportunity quickly became much more.
“Receiving the scholarship was a tremendous financial help. It also opened the door for an internship opportunity quickly after, and the opportunity to connect with several people on the MegaKC team,” said Reichman. Today, he is a Field Engineer in MegaKC’s Civil Division, where he enjoys solving new problems and contributing to projects that Kansas City residents use every day. He hopes to continue gaining field experience and eventually become a Superintendent with the Civil Division.
When asked what advice he would give students considering a career in construction, Reichman said “Make it a priority to network with people in industry. Some of the best advice and instruction I have been given were through simple conversations with industry professionals.”
The MegaKC Scholarship is designed to support the next generation of construction professionals and help students take the next step toward a career in the industry. Interested students can visit the scholarship page on our website to learn more and apply.
