Project Description
Janet K. Meyer Miller Terrace, Kansas City Art Institute
Kansas City, Mo.
- The project was designed to enhance the 6,500-square-foot plaza area in the heart of the Kansas City Art Institute. The patio area is centrally located between many of the historic KCAI classroom buildings. Improvements included adding a 1,200-pound Wallace drinking fountain, a replica of those found in Paris. Lighting, landscaping, and patio furniture were added to complete the space.
- Unique features and lighting create the perfect study space for students, regardless of the time of day. The project had a short construction schedule, to be completed while the students were on summer break. Access to the project was confined to space between existing historic structures, requiring smaller-than-typical construction equipment.
